Health Wearables

When thinking about wearables, most people visualize smart watches. Whether it’s an Apple Watch or a Fitbit, the average person associates wearables with step and calorie counters. Increasingly though, people are starting to realize that wearables are also able to help track vitals and other data for chronic conditions. When purchasing a health wearable, keep these questions in mind:

  • Will your doctor want/need access to the data collected?
  • How reliable do you need the data to be?
  • Should the data sync online via a cloud-based database?
  • Does your insurance company cover expenses for wearable devices?
  • Have you talked to a medical professional about your condition?
  • If you have a health savings account, will a wearable be considered a valid expense?
